The Power Technology Inc. PNF Series comprises configurable machine vision laser modules designed for precision 3D profiling, dimensional scanning and inspection applications. The PNF produces a uniform-intensity, non-Gaussian laser line, providing consistent illumination across the measurement field for applications where beam uniformity and positional stability are important.
Available across a broad range of wavelengths, the PNF Series can be configured from 405 nm through to 980 nm in current standard configurations, with output powers from 0.1 mW to more than 150 mW. Earlier and custom configurations extend the available wavelength range further, so Power Technology can tailor the laser to specific OEM requirements.
A key feature of the PNF is Power Technology’s Variable Focus™ Technology. This allows the user to adjust the module’s focus and optimise the projected laser line for different working distances. As a result, the same platform can be configured for both close-range inspection and longer-range 3D measurement applications.
The PNF is available with different line-generation options, including 101L for a thin line and short depth of field, 201L for a thicker line and longer depth of field, or a collimated output without line generation. Fan angles can also be specified from 5° to 100°, providing additional flexibility when integrating the laser into an optical inspection system.
For automated inspection systems, the PNF can operate in CW or digitally modulated mode, with TTL modulation available at speeds up to 500 kHz on standard configurations. Beam pointing stability is specified at <10 µrad/°C, helping maintain measurement consistency as operating temperature changes.
Typical applications include 3D machine vision, surface profiling, dimensional measurement, high-speed road and rail inspection, web inspection, fluorescence and structured-light systems. Custom wavelengths, power levels, connectors and beam profiles are also available for OEM integration.
