The Power Technology Inc. PM industrial laser is a compact, rugged CW laser diode module designed for OEM systems and industrial applications where stable optical output, reliable operation and straightforward integration are essential. The PM platform combines a precision current source with high-quality optics, providing a practical laser source for demanding machine vision, alignment, measurement and analytical systems.
The PM series is available across a broad range of visible, red/IR and SWIR wavelengths, with standard configurations extending from around 405 nm to 1550 nm. Output powers range from low-power milliwatt sources through to more than 100 mW, depending on wavelength and configuration. This flexibility allows the PM to be specified for applications ranging from precision alignment and inspection to OEM instrumentation and 3D scanning.
A key feature of the PM platform is its diffraction-limited optical performance in a compact package. The module has a nominal 12.7 mm diameter, making it suitable for integration where available space is limited. Operating voltages can be configured around 3.3, 5 or 8 VDC, while the integrated precision current source provides stable laser operation without requiring a large external driver.
The PM can be supplied with either collimated or focused beam configurations, allowing the optical output to be matched to the requirements of the application. When collimated, the laser produces a near-circular beam profile, while diffraction-limited focused configurations are available where a small, well-defined spot is required. Optional line-generation optics can also extend the platform for machine vision and structured-light applications.
Typical applications include machine vision, optical alignment, 3D scanning, measurement, positioning, life sciences and OEM analytical instrumentation.
